A lovely pair of glittering flat-cut, leaf-shaped garnet earrings dating to around 1840, set in mellow gold mounts testing as somewhere between 9 - 14K gold to the delicately crimped settings, and 18K gold to the ear wires.
The linked sections dangle with lovely movement in wear, with glittering and flashing to the large flat tables and faceted edges of the garnets as they catch the light.
This style is always sought-after and rarely hangs around for long!
The garnets are a lovely purplish-red almandine shade with some natural inclusions visible on close inspection. The settings are entirely hand made, and therefore each leaf section is not entirely identical.
MEASUREMENTS: 1 7/8" total drop from the bend in the ear wires to the bottom. 5.3g in weight together.
CONDITION: Very good, wearable antique condition - please view all close-up photos and video. Any display forms/boxes are shown for photography purposes only.
