Some really stunning, large gemstones to this c1820s Georgian pendant - generously cut, extremely sparkly amethysts and rare chrysoberyl with a gorgeous light green hue.

The gold mount tests as approx. 18K, and the stones have been electronically tested to confirm natural amethyst and chrysoberyl, which has a high hardness similar to topaz/sapphire (a bit less than diamond), and a high refractive index, making it bright and brilliant to the eye. The stones have been chosen for a bright and sparkling feminine lightness over heavy saturation of colour and the combination of shades is just unbearably pretty.

The setting is adorned with decorative balls to the edges and has some very pretty openwork hidden at the back of the mount - quality through and through!

To the rear is an original pin fitting which doesn't get in the way at all when worn as a pendant, and to the top is a good-sized gold jump ring loop (easily removed if you prefer to wear as a pin).

This has the practical advantage of open-backed settings, making it less delicate and more wearable than similar pieces with closed-back (particularly foiled) settings and giving it a lovely vibrant play of light.

Really quite an eye-catcher in wear, noticeable and feminine without being overly ornate or fussy in design.

MEASUREMENTS: A touch over 1.5" side to side (including ball details) and very slightly longer, 1 9/16" top to bottom not including top loop. 8.7g in weight.
