One of these lovely larger Japanese pendants c1900, this one featuring a dramatic embossed scene of the thunder god Raijin in action - banging on his thunder drums in the clouds, his wild robes swirling all around him. Raijin is often depicted as muscular and fierce, certainly the case here - full of power and energy. Both sides bear the same design. It's constructed in some kind of irogane-type alloy, possibly shinchu. It likely started out as something else, but there are no visible signs of conversion.
These big pieces make either a great statement pendant or can equally be hung as a bag charm or ornament - I have a similar one hanging from my handbag strap!
