A very special autumn leaf! A Victorian creation c1870 modelled in solid silver (tested) as a beautiful naturalistic, curving leaf, paved with vibrant Persian turquoise cabochons. What makes it really special is the addition of a matching ladybird, with unusual coral cabochon wings and and the cutest little legs/antennae! Ladybirds are widely considered good omens in most cultures.

The orange-red of the bug and the natural variation in the shades of the turquoises from bright baby blue to jade-like green adds to its autumnal appearance, like the stippled mosaic pattern of a leaf just about to fall from the tree! Though of course, its vibrant colours will suit any season.

To the rear of the leaf stem is a good-sized curved bail loop formed from the original Victorian pin fitting (other pin remnants have been removed), it's large enough to take a nice thick chain if desired.

This has a wonderful eye-catching appearance in wear and is a super, collectable little piece of Victorian history.

MEASUREMENTS: Approx 1 7/8" from top of leaf stem to bottom. 11.1g in weight.

CONDITION: Very good, wearable antique condition - please view all close-up photos. The ladybird is attached with rivet-like flat silver pins and can be moved around a little (rather than being soldered fast onto the leaf) but this is just the way it is constructed, it's very securely held in place. Any display boxes/chains are shown for photography purposes only.
