A beautiful, good-sized Victorian carved rock crystal pendant c1870 with a detailed fly sitting on the drop, crafted from gold vermeil (gold over solid silver) which looks much more like solid gold than silver. Paired here for display with an 18K snake chain and a 9K belcher chain to show how well it holds its own with antique gold.

The sides are beautifully, precisely faceted to glitter noticeably in wear and cast a 'pool of light' type glow onto the skin.

Original chunky saddle bail loop to the top with fancy scrolled attachment. One of the nicer and finer examples of this type we've seen.

The fly is realistic and detailed, reflecting the Victorian interest in the natural world, including the underappreciated world of insects!

MEASUREMENTS: 2" total drop top to bottom including top bail. 18.9g. in weight.

CONDITION: Very good antique condition - please view all photos and video. All fly's legs and details present. As is usual with these pieces, the fly is held in place with a pin drilled through the centre of the crystal pendant and is securely held in place. Any display chains/boxes shown are for photography purposes only.
